Steenberg High closes early amid ongoing violence after a man, 21, was shot on Monday

ONGOING gun violence has forced Steenberg High School to dismiss learners and staff early yesterday.

A statement issued by the school on 12 August read: “Due to recent incidents of gun violence in the vicinity of our school, and in the interest of the safety and well-being of our learners and staff, the school will be closing early today at 2pm.

“We kindly request that all parents and guardians make the necessary arrangements to collect learners promptly at this time. The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure to ensure everyone's safety.”
