CMCB teams ready to sing it out for the giant Silver Koefiyah at Athlone Stadium

IT'S A FEZT

COVETED: New Silver Fez trophy donated by Innie Kaap

THE Cape Malay Choir Board (CMCB) season reaches its climax next week with the Grand Finale to be held at Athlone Stadium on Saturday, 29 November 2025.

The coveted 1m tall Silver Fez, fondly referred to as the Koefieyah, the trophy that will crown the ultimate champions for the 2025 season, will be up for grabs.

This year for the first time in many years, all the teams will be participating in the Grand Finale. Teams compete in three categories on the day: Grand March Past, Best Dress and Exhibition Marching Drill.

Points obtained here are then added to the points from the sectional competition and the choir who gets the highest total overall, wins the Koefieyah.

Ottoman Sporting Club are the current holders of the coveted title.

But they are facing stiff competition this time around.
