Bellville United Soccer club want antwoorde from City of Cape Town

- BY MARSHA DEAN

DIS COCT DIE

THE top guns at Bellville United Soccer Club want answers from the City of Cape Town regarding the funds allocated to the club, which is falling apart due to vandalism and a lack of maintenance.

The Daily Voice met with the management of the soccer club at the dilapidated building where club treasurer, Mark Slinger, claims they've been fighting for over a decade to try and get the City of Cape Town (COCT) to come out and fix the place.

But, he says, their requests have fallen on deaf ears.

The City, though, argues that they have submitted “R2.75 million in repairs and maintenance” for the Bellville South Sport Grounds.

According to Slinger, vandalism from people in the community is a major issue and he also claims that there is no security around the building. He adds that they've been forced to dig into their own pockets to fix the place.

Slinger explained: “We ask the City to help us even if they just give us the material, we will do it ourselves. We are given empty promises but no action.
