WILLIAM and Kate bowed their heads in silent tribute to the nation's heroes on the 80th anniversary of VE Day.

Silence fell across the country yesterday as people paid their respects to those who lost their lives in World War Two.

At Westminster Abbey in London, the Royal Family led the congregation in a two-minute silence of reflection and remembrance.
