Alonso challenges him to oust Bernabeu legend

XABI ALONSO has warned Trent Alexander-Arnold he will have to fight for his place at Real Madrid and show he deserves to be their first-choice right-back.

The former Liverpool defender moved to the Bernabeu as a free agent this summer to seek a new challenge after a fairy-tale story ended in fan backlash at Anfield.

But there will be nothing handed to the 26-year-old after joining the world’s biggest football club, with the first of his new challenges to force out Real captain Dani Carvajal.

The six-time Champions League winner is heading into his 13th season with the club, and while aged 33 and having missed most of last season through injury, Alonso insisted the position was very much up for grabs.
