But Everton got the job done to ensure there was no slip up against League One Mansfield last night.

Carlos Alcaraz and Beto got the goals in a fairly drab game but the Toffees avoided a sticky situation.

Everton cut the ribbon on Hill Dickinson Stadium at the weekend which was a fantastic occasion.

There were fireworks before that as the Toffees got a big win over Brighton but this was always going to feel a bit like after the Lord Mayor's show for them.

Not for the big travelling Stags support, of course.

They packed out one corner of the new stadium for their first ever game against the Premier League side.
