SOUTH AFRICAN-BORN prop Pierre Schoeman reckons the Lions' foreign legion are as proud as any other player on tour to be wearing the red jersey.

- from ADAM HATHAWAY in Perth

Scotland international Schoeman is one of eight of the Lions' 38 players born in either Australia, South Africa or New Zealand, a number which former skipper Willie John McBride said "bothered" him.

Australian-born front rower Finlay Bealham is eligible through his grandparents, Sione Tuipulotu has a Scottish grandmother, while Schoeman, at Edinburgh since 2018, makes it under the old three-year residency rule, which has since increased to five years.

But the colourful Schoeman reckons they will fight like 2008 film character Outlander, who crash lands into the Iron Age and helps protect the locals.
