Love is in the Herr as Tuchel plots fairy tale with England

- FROM JOHN CROSS in BRUSSELS

THOMAS TUCHEL made up his mind to stay on as England boss THREE MONTHS ago after falling in love with the job.

Tuchel has signed a new two-year deal to keep him in the role until after Euro 2028 and revealed he was never tempted to go back into club management.

The former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss was on Manchester United's radar this summer - and they did interview him back in 2024 - but he says he is determined to finish the job with England.

When asked whether he had spoken to clubs, Tuchel, 52, said: "Confidential. But I was very committed to the idea, after November, to stay and the FA was as well.

"I'm not sure if they were worried. There was no reason to be worried because I was obviously totally focused through the qualification period and right after that we started the talks.
