Stamford Bridge legend in call for fan patience
Daily Star
|June 14, 2025
JOHN TERRY admitted Chelsea are not ready to compete for the Premier League title.
The Stamford Bridge legend also warned that his former club can only gain experience and attract the biggest players through winning major trophies.
The Blues finished the season on a high after lifting the Europa Conference League trophy, earning a Champions League place by coming fourth in the Premier League and jetting off to the Club World Cup in the USA.
Terry won trophies galore with Chelsea during Roman Abramovich's reign, when stars such as Didier Drogba and Eden Hazard turned them into champions.
The former England captain says he feels frustrated that Chelsea's young squad are not closer to challenging Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City for the biggest prizes.
"I get frustrated because I want Chelsea to be winning the biggest trophies," said Terry.
"Are we close? I think we are still a few years away from competing for the Premier League again. We need to catch Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool to even have a chance of doing that.
