Tears as shocked Horner gets axe

CHRISTIAN HORNER gave a teary farewell to staff after he was ruthlessly axed by Red Bull.

The 51-year-old spent 20 years in charge of the team, winning 14 F1 titles, but was told on Tuesday he would be sidelined.

It was confirmed yesterday he had been "released from operational duties" and put on gardening leave until the end of the year.

Horner was seen leaving Red Bull's Milton Keynes base by car shortly before 11.30am.
