IT'S 80 years this week since our historic victory over Nazi Germany - and what better excuse for a celebration? Up and down the country, Brits are raising a glass to the brave men and women who got us through World War Two.

The food:

YOU wouldn't see much of today's party food back in 1945. Wartime rationing meant sugar, butter and meat were hard to come by, so sweets, chocolate and cakes were unlikely. Sandwiches were very much the order of the day, with popular fillings including jam, dripping or potted meat and fish. You could also tuck into pork faggots, liver casserole, corned beef hash or a Lord Woolton pie, made from diced potatoes and veg.
