New job's a non-starter

BACK in January, I was offered a new job. However, when they told me I had been successful, I was given a different start date to what the final interviewer said. They went on to change it a further two times, so I didn't hand in my notice.

I have just heard from the company's HR department, and they said due to the ongoing economic situation, they are no longer offering the role to me.

I feel very upset about this as I was excited to start and went through a long application and interview process.

If I had handed in my notice, I would also have been left unemployed. Do I have any rights here?
