Mr Dolittle: Sorry.. you can't talk to the animals

Dr Arik Kershenbaum, an expert in animal communication, said that while people could learn to interpret pets' behaviour, there was no chance of a two-way chat.

The University of Cambridge professor said the most we could expect was to work out a way of understanding what animals are trying to convey.
