Angry James vows to help fans forget Anfield shocker

JAMES MADDISON has revealed he felt "hurt" and "embarrassed" by Tottenham's crushing defeat at Liverpool on Sunday - and the disastrous Premier League season.

And the England midfielder now wants to "reward" the loyalty of the Spurs fans by winning the Europa League.

"We're trying to put it right," he said.

Tottenham's "unacceptable" domestic season hit another low at Anfield with a 5-1 defeat the 19th in the Premier League - which allowed Liverpool to lift the title. Spurs sit down in 16th and face a battle not to finish 17th, just above the bottom three.

The North London club are also three games away from a European trophy they face Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League semi-finals tonight and a return to the Champions League.
