Eddie spending spree would be Shear bliss

ALAN SHEARER has urged Newcastle to go on a spending spree if they want to keep winning more trophies.

Shearer watched in wonder this season as his hometown club won their first domestic silverware in seven decades - in the shape of the Carabao Cup.

Eddie Howe then guided his team to a top-five finish to secure a place in the Champions League.

And now Shearer wants Newcastle's Saudi owners to give Howe the funds he needs to make some world-class signings and establish the club among the elite of English football.

Toon's top targets include Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi.

And Shearer believes splashing the cash would give Newcastle a realistic chance of winning trophies on a regular basis instead of once in a lifetime.
