£5bn to shift the Glazers

THE GLAZERS will only consider offers of more than £5BILLION for their stake in Manchester United.

That figure is more than DOUBLE what the club is worth on the stock market.

Speculation mounted that Saudi billionaire Turki Al-Sheikh has launched a takeover bid, though he has denied he is involved.

But Turki - or any other possible new owner - would have to start the bidding at around £5.2bn to stand a realistic chance.

The US businessmen took control of United two decades ago in a £790m deal and the club's current value stands at £2bn.
