West is best bet in Savills Chase

Cheltenham Gold Cup hero Inothewayurthinkin finished ahead of the selection in the John Durkan at Punchestown, but that was a joke of a contest as only the first two home were stepping out over their optimum trip while the rest of the 10 runner field were merely having away days to kick off the summer dust.

The selection, one of five Willie Mullinstrained entries here, was never better than midfield, but jumped well and was given a very easy time by Brian Hayes in the closing stages.

That run looks sure to have brought him forward and although beaten 23 lengths in last year’s contest, the nine-year-old had every chance between the final two fences before backing out and eased up to finish sixth.
