THE JUKEBOX MAN (1.50) is ready to rock for Ben Pauling in the King George VI Chase at Kempton.

- BY GARRY OWEN

Harry Redknapp' star ended his hurdle career with seconds in Grade Ones at Cheltenham and Aintree last year.

The bay always looked a future chaser and was sent straight into a Grade Two on debut at Newbury come November.

He fully justified that decision by easing to victory from Masaccio over 2m 4f at the Berkshire venue 13 months ago. The seven-year-old hit the line running and made his Grade One bow in the Kauto Star at this track.

He stayed that distance well when jumping and galloping a solid yardstick in Hyland into submission a year ago today.

Sidelined soon after, the gelding made his comeback in a strong 2m 5f graduation chase at Haydock just over a month ago.

He looked better than ever when cruising home from Iroko, who franked the form at Ascot six days ago.

The rising star is ideal for this historic contest so looks primed to cap his handler's flying start to the campaign.

The top trainer should enjoy a double with JIMBO SPORT (3.05) in the Maiden Hurdle. The six-year-old disposed of Soldier Saint in a Hereford bumper on his Rules debut nine months ago.
