Bernardo insists Celts are aiming to get out crisis and help Nancy

- GORDON PARKS

PAULO BERNARDO admits he isn't surprised at fans wanting the Celtic board to pull the trigger on Wilfried Nancy's two-week reign.

Instead, the midfielder believes the clamour for the Frenchman to be removed after four straight defeats comes with the territory of being tasked with leading a club where failure isn't an option.

Scottish football was awash with rumours on Thursday that Nancy was in talks over the terms of a termination and a quickfire exit, which proved unfounded.

But Bernardo is adamant losing streaks at big clubs will have any manager living on borrowed time and an overflowing rumour mill.

The 23-year-old said: "That's the thing about the big clubs.

"If one coach at Barcelona doesn't win four games, they probably have a speculation around them the club are going to sack him in the next game.

"I don't think it's only about Scotland but the big clubs.

"We all want the coach to succeed and we want to succeed as well.

"We are all as a team together and if we don't win the games, this speculation begins to get some credibility. We need to take responsibility for that.

"It's not all about the coach - it's us as well.

"We need to stick together as a group.
