Victims let down by justice system

FOR almost 27 years, Vicky Maclean has lived with the trauma of being dragged from the street and raped at knifepoint by one of Scotland's most dangerous sex offenders.

And ever since she has had to watch the man who destroyed her life as a teenager walk in and out of prison, repeatedly reoffending and “making a mockery” of one of the strictest possible public protection orders.

This month, that decade-long order came to an end - just days before sex beast John McDougall was jailed for committing yet another breach by approaching a lone woman in the street.
