SCOTLAND'S schools were shut for a third day as the country was gripped by ice and snow.

A yellow weather warning for ice and snow was in force across the northern half of the country yesterday with heavy snow causing major disruption.

Forecasters warned a further 2-4in of snow is likely to fall across ground above 300ft, while areas above 600ft could see up to 8in.
