Ball says Thelwell's reputation is on line with Chermiti signing

MICHAEL BALL has told Kevin Thelwell he’s put his Rangers reputation on the line with the signing of Youssef Chermiti.

The Ibrox sporting director was the man who pushed the button when Everton splashed out £12million to sign Portugal Under-21 cap Chermiti from Sporting in 2023.

And now he has just sanctioned another £8m splurge after giving the green light for Rangers' deadline-day swoop for the Toffees striker.

The huge fee which could hit eight figures with add-ons is the biggest sum the Light Blues have spent on a single player since the £12m capture of Tore Andre Flo a quarter of a century ago.

But it has left fans puzzled and wondering if recruiting a largely untested frontman with just three first-team goals to his name native Portugal - was the best way to spend the cash.
