Ex-detective says cops had lead on fiend's violent spree around pub deaths, New book shines light on unsolved cases and problems with investigation
SERIAL killer Angus Sinclair has been linked to the unsolved murders of three young women.
Anna Kenny, Hilda McAuley and Agnes Cooney all died in a three-month period in 1977 after meeting their killer on nights out in Glasgow with friends.
At the time, the police hit a brick wall in their efforts to find the people responsible and inquiries were eventually wound down.
Now an ex-detective has linked the killings to World's End murderer Sinclair in a new publication, Midnight Stalkers, which looks at unsolved murders across the UK.
It reports how detectives efforts were hampered at the time by a lack of information from the public.
Sinclair, who died in 2019 in prison, was convicted in 2014 of the murders of Edinburgh teens Helen Scott and Christine Eadie - which became known as the World's End murders - and received his third life sentence.
Their murders came only weeks after the death of Hilda.
Midnight Stalkers tells how Anna, 20, disappeared on August 5, 1977, after a night out at the Hurdy Gurdy pub in Lister Street, Townhead, Glasgow.
