FROM a Glasgow tenement to the Olympic stage and a high profile career in Westminster, Menzies Campbell had a remarkable life.

But perhaps his finest accomplishment was the regard he was held in for his basic decency.

Sir Menzies, who died yesterday aged 84, was an MP for almost 30 years and became Lib Dem leader.

Current leader Ed Davey praised the Scot known as Ming - for his morality, courage and wisdom.
