Smokies right a wrong with win over Pars

Arbroath managed to right some wrongs as they continued their top-four push with a 4-2 win over Dunfermline.

Strikes from Ryan Dow, Aaron Muirhead, Findlay Marshall as well as a Deniz Mehmet own goal saw the Red Lichties taste victory over the Pars, who had Andrew Tod and Josh Cooper on target.

It was a far cry from the heavy defeat they suffered against the Fifers at Gayfield last September.

Smokies skipper O'Brien, whose side are now seven points clear of fourthplaced Ayr, said: “We're delighted to get three points because we felt we had things to put right after last time when they came here and beat us 5-0.

“Getting the first goal in the Championship is always so important and getting a goal early in each half helps with momentum to go forward and try to win the game.

“The goals came at the right time for us.”

Pars boss Neil Lennon slammed goalkeepers Billy Terrell and sub Mehmet, as well as his frontmen and the referee.
