Site handed deal to build four vessels

THE last remaining commercial shipyard on the Clyde has avoided closure after securing a contract to build four new vessels.

Ferguson Marine was nationalised by the SNP government in 2019 after the firm collapsed into administration. The crisis was caused by massive cost overruns while building the Glen Sannox and Glen Rosa ferries with the latter still not due to be handed over until the end of this year.
