Alex: Spirit that kept Saints on track for Cup double can lift us clear of dogfight

ALEX GOGIC says the warrior spirit shown to see off Partick Thistle is just what St Mirren need to spark a league revival.

Saints clung on to survive a Sunday night second-half siege to beat Jags 2-1 and reach the Scottish Cup semis.

Victory was a huge tonic for the Premiership strugglers who've won one top flight game in 13. Four massive league matches loom now before another Hampden clash against Celtic.

And they'll need to soldier on without Marcus Fraser who'll miss at least six weeks with a shoulder injury.

The defensive stalwart is the latest stellar name to be out significant time.

Mark O'Hara and Keanu Baccus are just back from long lay-offs while Mika Mandron and Jonah Ayunga are big misses up top.

Gogic, 31, said: "I've not really known a season like it for core players getting injured.
