Cop drove car through window at his ex and her mother

A WOMAN whose former cop ex tried to kill her and her mother by driving his car through a shop window has won a compensation payout.

William McBurnie - branded the “Jekyll and Hyde of Jedburgh” - was jailed for 11 years after he rammed his car through a funeral parlour owned by his former partner Zoe Turnbull.

McBurnie, 58, narrowly missed Zoe, 46, and her mum Beverly, 71, after he drove his vehicle at speed through the building in a booze-fuelled rage.

The shocking incident, which was captured on CCTV, left Zoe with hearing loss and injuries to her back and legs.

Zoe launched a legal action against McBurnie and her solicitors at Digby Brown have now confirmed to the Record the case has been settled.

The figure has not been confirmed but Mairi Day, a partner at Digby Brown, confirmed the legal action against the disgraced former police officer had ended.

She said: “What happened to Zoe and her mother was life-changing. They suffered physical and emotional harm that will likely impact them both forever.
