Pet owners warned over hook threat

VETS have issued a warning to pet owners after three dogs swallowed discarded fish hooks in one month.

One of the animals treated at the Royal School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh chomped down a hook and got another stuck in its lip.

Another pooch was rushed to the animal hospital after swallowing a fish hook at Lochinch estate, near Stranraer, last September.

Chip, a three-year-old spaniel, ate fishing bait while out on a walk with owner Sheila Baillie.
