THE SNP has come under fire after it was revealed the prison population in Scotland has hit a record high.
The overall total of inmates hit 8430 on October 21 - the operating capacity of the prison estate is 7805.
This is up from the previous high of 8420, according to the Scottish Prison Service.
SPS chief executive Teresa Medhurst said: “We have now reached a new record high.
