RANGERS have decided on their next manager but the wait for his arrival will rumble on.

Kevin Muscat will be the next man to inhabit the office at the top of the marble staircase.

But with the Chinese Super League season still running, Muscat is set to remain with Shanghai Port until November 22. A big-money compensation package will also be due to the Aussie's current club.

The saga to find a new manager has seen sporting director Kevin Thelwell and CEO Patrick Stewart find themselves in the firing line.

Alistair Munro said: “My thoughts are the Rangers owners got it wrong from the start. They don't realise the enormity of what's expected at Ibrox.

“Russell Martin, a real mess, signings all wrong. Thelwell would be awkward to work with, judging by his manner. Steven Gerrard had the stature, manner, and professionalism to have turned the team around. It's going on far too long.”
