O'Neill ready to play peacemaker between Parkhead chiefs and Green Brigade

MARTIN O'NEILL is ready to step into Celtic's boardroom war and try to broker a peace deal with the Green Brigade.

The returning club legend wants the ultras group back inside Parkhead and hopes all fans can unite ahead of a crucial title battle.

The Green Brigade have been locked out since early November and slapped with an indefinite ban over a string of off-field issues.

They are among hundreds of supporters' organisations backing the Celtic Fans Collective, who have led demonstrations and boycotts against the under-fire hierarchy since a disastrous summer transfer window.

With diehards and top brass locked in a stand-off, O'Neill has offered himself up as a peacemaker.

The boss said: "Right, do you know what I think? In the longer, shorter term, I wouldn't mind having a meeting with a group of people just for people airing their grievances and things like this here.
