MARTIN'S JOB SAFE.. FOR NOW
Daily Record
|September 15, 2025
RANGERS chiefs are standing by their beleaguered boss Russell Martin despite another weekend of furious Ibrox protests.
The head coach saw his side lose 2-0 to Hearts on Saturday, extending their nightmare start to the new Premiership season to five games without a win.
That proved to be the final straw for thousands of fans at Ibrox, who loudly chanted for the former Southampton gaffer to go throughout the game.
But despite having got off to the club's worst start in 47 years, with Gers now perched TENTH in the table, Record Sport understands chairman Andrew Cavenagh and vicechairman Paraag Marathe are standing by the 39-year-old.
Neither American was at Ibrox on Saturday to see the scenes of anger sweep the ground. CEO Patrick Stewart was also absent as he dealt with a family matter.
But sporting director Kevin Thelwell witnessed the backlash from the punters and is understood to have updated Cavenagh and his partners from the San Francisco 49ers on the situation.
