Red Bull's Verstappen faces ban after hitting Russell's Merc

MAX VERSTAPPEN is on the brink of a Formula One BAN after angrily slamming into George Russell.

The Red Bull racer appeared to deliberately hit Russell's Mercedes after blowing his top in the final stages of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Verstappen collided first with Charles Leclerc and then with Russell but lost his rag when Red Bull told him to move aside and let the Brit by.

He banged wheels with the Mercedes and copped a 10-second penalty for doing so, meaning he finished 10th.

And he also now has 11 penalty points on his racing licence one more and he'll be banned for a race.

The Dutchman was still seething when asked if he had deliberately hit Russell and said: "Does it matter?"

Lando Norris, second behind winner Oscar Piastri, compared it to a "Mario Kart" move when he watched a replay after the race.
