A WOMAN left looking "like an alien" by a metal jaw operation which sparked an NHS apology to dozens of patients has called on the police to act.

Jean Milne is one of 44 patients to receive a letter from NHS Tayside saying sorry for not properly alerting them to the risks when they were given a type of metal jaw prosthetic between 2005 and 2016.

A report found the implants could lead to serious problems such as infections and arthritis.

Digy Brown confirmed that it is preparing a legal case.

Jean, from Arbroath, revealed in October how the procedure had ruined her life.

And now the 58-year-old has told police the actions of the health board should be investigated as a “criminal” matter.

In paperwork handed to Dundee police office, Jean said: "I believe senior staff and surgeons acted with reckless disregard for patient safety by using an experimental in-house manufactured, metal on metal device without proper clinical trials or regulatory approval.
