Del declares his ‘bullish’ Jambos are only getting started after quashing Gers record

- BY SCOTT BURNS

DEREK McINNES insists Hearts’ rattling of Rangers has set the standard.

Now he wants his Jambos to push on by raising the bar to even higher levels.

Saturday's triumph was their first victory at Ibrox since their Championship win on the first day of the season in 2014 - and first in the top tier since 2012 - and ensured they maintained their unbeaten Premiership start to remain level of points with leaders Celtic.

McInnes knows it was a statement victory but believes this is only the start for his charges and they will be looking to push on further.

The boss said: “We have only just started. We are only in our infancy with these boys.

“It is a good reference point for us now because everybody and anybody was quick to tell us how poor our record was at Ibrox. The reference point now is clear — we've won at a tough venue and we have had to play really well to do it.

“We have had to play really well to do it and we've raised our levels. There is more in us and it is up to me to get it out of us as we go along.”

The Gorgie faithful will be loving riding this wave amid hopes their heroes can keep it going for the season.

But McInnes is too long in the tooth to be swept along, having been in a similar position before at Aberdeen.

Back in the 2015-16 season, his Dons won their first eight Premiership games.
