It's big week but not a critical one
Daily Record
|August 23, 2025
RUSSELL MARTIN insists he has the full backing of Rangers' board and says the next week won't impact his future at the club.
The Ibrox gaffer is already feeling the heat after failing to win his first two league games on top of losing 3-1 at home to Club Brugge in their Champions League playoff first leg on Tuesday. Fans made their feelings known in midweek and Martin knows a win at St Mirren tomorrow is vital.
After that is the return against the Belgians before a first Old Firm game of the season at Ibrox.
Rangers already trail Celtic by four points in the Premiership and cannot afford any further slip-ups.
But Martin is adamant that it is a work in progress at Ibrox and, crucially, the club's American owners are understanding He's adamant they are relaxed about the bumpy start to his tenure and claims the next three games will not be season-defining Martin said: "In terms of points, momentum and energy, all the games are important.
"We have a big week with three games that are going to be important.
"But none are seasondefining, None are critical.
"They're important for us in our process and trying to improve.
