A LORRY driver who killed a cyclist has been spared jail after the victim's widow made a plea for mercy.
David McGarry was sentenced to 160 hours of unpaid work for causing the death of Neil Smith, 74, who was on a bike ride with his son from Stirling to Crianlarich, Perthshire, where they had intended to take the train home.
