Dane Rune cancer-free thanks to Clare signing up

A SCOTTISH mum has been able to meet a dad of three from Denmark after she saved his life.

Clare Montgomery, 44, met Rune Dinsen, 57, in Glasgow in July after a stem cell donation.

They enjoyed a meal together seven years on from the successful transplant with Rune's disease in remission.

Clare was at work in 2017 when she received a phone call from DKMS to tell her the organisation had found a match with Rune, a father who was battling a rare type of lymphatic cancer.

Clare had signed up to the stem cell register in 2016 after reading our story about three-year-old Ava Todd's fight with inherited bone marrow failure.

Without hesitation, Clare went on to donate her cells to Rune on Valentine's Day the following year.
