Goodwin's United full of confidence after matching capital's big spenders

JIM GOODWIN reckons Dundee United can go into the rest of the season with real confidence.

That's the manager's view after his side proved they are more than a match for the likes of big-spending Hibs and Hearts.

Goodwin defied the odds to lead United to fourth last season and believes they can have another successful assault, after a 3-3 draw at Hibs and narrowly losing a five-goal thriller against Hearts.

He has brought in 14 players and spent just a nominal five figures but his team is still showing they can go toe-to-toe with the likes of the big Edinburgh two, who have spent significant sums strengthening their squads.
