Butler admits that acting saved him from parties, boozing and depression
FILM star Gerard Butler fears he would have drunk himself to death if he hadn't quit being a lawyer to pursue a career in acting.
The Hollywood actor said he was deeply unhappy and drinking heavily while working in the legal profession in Scotland in his early 20s.
He graduated from university in law and was taken on as a trainee by a firm of solicitors.
But he was sacked just days before qualifying as a fully fledged lawyer because his constant drinking and partying meant he was often absent from work.
