Fitzpatrick: We never said we'd walk off at Bethpage

MATT FITZPATRICK has denied suggestions Team Europe will walk off the course at future Ryder Cups in the States if they are subjected to a repeat of the crowd behaviour that marred last week's win at Bethpage Black.

World No.2 Rory Mcllroy in particular was targeted by a section of fans at the New York course dubbed “the Bear Pit”.

Mcllroy’s wife, Erica was also hit by a plastic beer tumbler at the rowdiest ever clash. But Englishman Fitzpatrick, who was making his fourth successive appearance in the biennial match, said: “I read the report and that’s not accurate at all.
