Sarwar's calls for Starmer to quit compared to Brooklyn's feud with parents by MP at stormy Labour summit as party's civil war rumbles ón

- BY PAUL HUTCHEON

AN MP compared Anas Sarwar to Brooklyn Beckham after the Scottish Labour leader called for Keir Starmer to quit.

Chris Murray likened Sarwar to the Manchester United legend's son—who was accused of starting a feud with his parents after his ex-Spice Girl mum Victoria did a dirty dance at his wedding.

One source said the cheeky put-down, delivered at an explosive meeting of Scottish Labour MPs, was greeted with laughter.

Sarwar plunged his party into civil war on Monday after he urged Starmer to stand down.

He blasted the UK Government's "mistakes" and said new leadership was required in the run up to May's Holyrood election.

But Scottish Labour is split over the call, with MSPs backing Sarwar and MPs largely supportive of the Prime Minister.

The Record can reveal extraordinary details of an emergency meeting of Scots Labour MPs and peers at Westminster on Tuesday.

Edinburgh East and Musselburgh MP Murray is said to have mocked Sarwar by comparing him to Beckham's eldest son.

In a series of Instagram posts recently, Beckham junior accused mum Victoria and dad David of controlling him and trying to undermine his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz.

Commentators said Beckham's act of defiance against his parents showed he was a petulant young man who lashed out when events were not going his way.

One Labour source claimed the comparison portrayed Sarwar as childish and disrespectful towards the Prime Minister.

Murray said the comment was a joke: "Well, to explain the background context, I wouldn't say either Anas or Brooklyn Beckham did anything petulant or disrespectful. They did make surprising interventions that captured everyone's attention though!"
