Drivers form group to sue after spate of fuel-linked breakdowns

CONTAMINATED car fuel has wrecked vehicles, leaving fuming owners with huge repair bills.

David Stockwell, from Aberdour in Fife, said he filled up his 2012 Volkswagen Golf with premium diesel at Morrisons Kirkcaldy on August 9.

A few days later the car lost all power as his wife Katharine was driving down a treacherous stretch of the A92.

Roadside recovery experts found the tank full of a milky liquid and, despite the car being quickly drained, its entire fuel system and engine were ruined.

With replacement parts costing £4000-more than the car was worth - it was written off, leaving David and Katharine in financial difficulty.
