Ex-soldier and domestic abuser attacked police station after girlfriend dumped him

A FORMER soldier who hurled petrol bombs towards a police station, endangering the life of a female cop, has been jailed for three-and-a-half years.

Jamie Taylor, 34, said he wanted to “blow up” Livingston police station, West Lothian, the day after his past as a domestic abuser was revealed to his current partner, causing her to dump him.

He was told by a judge his actions were “dangerous and criminally stupid”.

CCTV of the May 30 incident last year showed hooded Taylor - who had watched as a close friend was blown up by an IED while they were serving in Afghanistan - launching three Molotov cocktails at police vans in the car park at Livingston Civic Centre, where the station is situated.

The first two bounced off the vans’ windscreens before exploding on the ground and starting fires.
