Burnley chairman Pace backs link-up with Dundee and insists deal will benefit both clubs

- SCOTT BURNS

CLARET & DARK BLUE

ALAN PACE reckons Burnley's tie-up with Dundee is a two way-street and can help them land some of Scotland's top players.

The Clarets formalised their strategic partnership with the Dark Blues this week, having already sent Dara Costelloe and Owen Dodgson to Dens on loan.

Burnley chairman Pace claims his club have missed out on a number of Scots transfer targets and the link-up can allow them to steal a march on their rivals.

He said: "We always look at Scotland. We were told early on that not all players settle well in England so Scotland was a good market to consider seriously.

"We haven't been as successful as we'd have liked in recruiting players from Scotland so far. It seems that others have managed to take the ones we have liked to greener pastures.

"Hopefully, being there closer we can get there sooner with the players we target. We've missed out on a few but I would prefer not to say who they are.

Both clubs have American owners but the link between them came from Charlie Adam. The former Dundee star was loans manager at Burnley and made the connection before he headed for Fleetwood. It came about after he put Marcel Lewis up on loan this season.
