Bid to screen all men for prostate cancer rejected

PROSTATE cancer screening should NOT be made routinely available for most men in the UK, a committee advising the UK Government has declared.

Sir Chris Hoy, 49, has been campaigning for all men over 50 to be offered testing for the disease after his own terminal diagnosis.

The six-time Olympic cycling champion is "extremely saddened" by the recommendation.

He said: "I know firsthand that by sharing my story, following my own diagnosis two years ago, many, many lives have been saved.
