President warns PM it is dangerous when HE is due to visit in spring

DONALD Trump has slammed the UK's efforts to seek closer ties with China as dangerous, despite planning to visit Beijing himself in April.

Keir Starmer yesterday brushed off the US President's outburst and said the UK cannot refuse to engage with China.

The PM met Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday for nearly three-hour talks and agreed to boost their alliance.

Starmer also highlighted Trump's expected China visit after his invite by Xi at the end of last year.

But asked for his views on the UK getting into business with China, Trump said: "Well, it's very dangerous for them to do that and it's even more dangerous for Canada to get into business with China.

"I know China very well... President Xi is a friend of mine." The pair also met in South Korea last October.
