POLITICS should be all about improving lives. That's what motivates me. That's why I worked as an NHS dentist in Paisley, looking after those in need.

And that's why lam campaigning to become first minister — to make your life better.

But for many Scots, the reality is that they feel that politics does not work for them.

And they feel like politicians put themselves — and not the people - first.

It wasn't hard to see why people think like that this week.

Let me give you two examples. Last week it was revealed that almost 900,000 Scots are now stuck on an NHS waiting list. And well over 100,000 are waiting over a year to be treated.

The SNP is so far off its promise to raise GP numbers that it won't reach the target until 2050.
