New hero Ben wants to cop glory at Falkirk after Toon Wembley win

BEN PARKINSON joined a city in raptures as Newcastle went wild over cup success - now Falkirk's instant hero dreams of a repeat celebration in his new town.

Parkinson fully announced himself to the Bairns faithful as John McGlynn's heroes sent Hearts crashing out of the Scottish Cup.

Signed just over a week ago, the 20-year-old stormed from the bench to sink the killer strikes at Tynecastle.

Half-time sub Parkinson broke the deadlock with a sharp finish from Filip Lissah's cross and also had the bottle to sink the last kick of the penalty shoot-out.

Success sent Falkirk's travelling support into boisterous celebrations and, if anyone knows what cup glory can do for a place, it's the Tynesider.

Local lad Parkinson was at Wembley when his Magpies ended seven decades without silver by winning the Carabao Cup to send the city into a carnival for weeks.

Imagining the same thing at Falkirk only excites and he said: "Yeah, definitely. Last year as a Geordie boy and supporting Newcastle, it was a great feeling to win the cup after 70 years. Hopefully we can replicate that here that's what I'm here to do.

"It' would be massive, absolutely massive. It's stuff you dream of, lifting the trophy for the team you're playing for and it'd be massive for the fans.
